One Day Conference on Strengthening Green Steel Production: Building Pillars for New India on 24th November, 2017, New Delhi

INTRODUCTION

United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with Ministry of Steel (MoS), GoI has been working in bringing energy efficiency in the secondary steel sector since 2004. Till now, 321 units have implemented energy efficient technology options/packages with direct assistance from project. They have reduced about 20% reduction in their specific energy consumption. UNDP earlier endorsed the APQI application note on POWER QUALITY for Secondary Steel Industries considering the connect between good power quality and effective energy efficiency program.

The All India Induction Furnaces Association (AIIFA), organized its 31st national level conference on “Strengthening Green Steel Production: Building Pillars for New India” on 24th November, 2017 at Hotel Le-Meridien, New Delhi.  The event was inaugurated by Hon’ble Minister of Steel, Government of India. The Secretary (Steel) and Joint Secretary (Steel) addressed the gathering.  Beside this, the stakeholders from Steel Industry especially from Public Sector units, Central Government officials, R&D Institutions related to Steel and Steel Products, Rolling and Re-Rolling Mills Industries, Induction furnace, Sponge Iron/DRI Producers, Ferro Alloys Producers, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), CSIR-NML, NISST, JPC and members of AIIFA have joined this event and deliberated on key issues. UNDP organized one session in this conference focusing on  “Energy & Environment improvement for the steel sector”.
