17th Webinar - Regulatory and Policy Landscape around PQ for more resilient grid in 21st Century

Webinar Date: 12-06-2018
Webinar Time: 04:00PM to 05:30PM

INTRODUCTION

In India, there are standards specified to help maintain the standards of the electricity grid. It is important to follow these standards as PQ events are directly connected to the socio-economic loss. These Regulations have been specified by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) and the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) at central level and the State Electricity Regulatory Commissions (SERC) at state level as per the provisions of the Electricity Act, 2003.Noting this, the development of standards and policy landscape on power quality is the need of the hour and eventually will help Indian power sector to expand qualitatively as well as quantitatively while moving towards smart grid technology. Availability of standards on power quality will also help in increasing awareness about power quality among industries and consumer which is treated less important today.

India’s 21st century electricity grid is becoming smarter with the help of advanced & digital technologies, where consumption and efficiency can work together to generate savings & benefits. However, in want of lack of continuing investment in distribution infrastructure in last two decades the health of grid is not up to mark affecting quality delivery of power to all on 24X7 basis. It has also become vulnerable with renewable energy & EV integration, fluctuating voltages determined by customer load & decentralized generation. Further, in today’s economy, digital devices have become the engines of most industries, thereby putting an additional responsibility on the grid network to maintain the power quality.

WHY SHOULD YOU ATTEND?

This webinar brings experts from the field of service provider/utility and technical consultant to share their experiences on the following topics:
Benefit 1: Recent development in the regulatory and policy landscape around PQ in India.
Benefit 2: Changes required in the existing regulations.
Benefit 3: Preparedness of Indian Discom to ensure PQ in the network with EV and renewable integration

PANEL OF EXPERTS

Mr. Jitendra Nalwaya

BSES Delhi, Additional Vice President

Key Talk Points

  • How much it is important for Indian Discom to ensure quality of supply in the network? What steps are being taken?
  • Are Indian Discoms well-positioned to manage PQ with increasing proportion of load being non-linear and power electronics driven. What measures are being considered for the same?
  • What is the current preparedness of PQ monitoring and reporting by DISCOMs
  • What challenges are faced by Indian Discoms to follow PQ standards?
