Power Quality and other environmental issues at a large IT Buildings - An approach to best reliability

ABSTRACT

Reliable and quality power supply for a large IT-enabled services and BPOs’ office space, housing several infrastructure with data centers and network rooms is an important aspect, as there has been revolutionary changes in the growth of IT technology and products over the past decades. Over passage of time, the large deployment of IT systems has created power quality problems which were not foreseen when the powering principles for the modern data center were developed earlier. Apart from power quality issues, several other environmental aspects such as temperature and humidity, power dissipation, noise emission and air flow quantities, under which these equipments work have a great impact on the reliability itself. A systematic approach in identifying and finding user problems in achieving most reliable operation of systems is the essential requirement of such large facility, as enumerated in the case study below.
