Power Quality Regulation And Management In India

International Copper Association India (ICAI) with the support of KEMA presented a report on power quality (PQ) problem in India and to increase the awareness of policy makers and regulators.

Overview of topics covered under the report:

  • Assessment of current power quality level in India. Provided that sufficient relevant data is available, the level should be preferably expressed in grade based power quality categories.
  • Assessment of the cost associated with current power quality level in India. Power quality level and associated costs should illustrate the need for an adequate power quality level.
  • Power quality management in a deregulated electric power sector. Who is responsible for power quality monitoring, auditing, and measures for maintaining power quality at a required level? How is power quality management organized, market based or centralized?
  • Power quality management in networks with a high penetration of renewable energy resources, disturbing loads, and loads sensitive to power quality phenomena – technical and economical issues.
