India Copper Forum 2016

International Copper Association India (ICA India) hosted the 2nd edition of India Copper Forum (ICF 2016) in association with Hindalco Industries Ltd and Vedanta Ltd at Mumbai on 20th December 2016. The theme for this year was “Future with Copper” and aim was to discuss new opportunities for copper in applications that will be creating fresh demand. This platform brought together entire copper fraternity to congregate and deliberate opportunities and challenges over an exclusive platform, India Copper Forum.

The India Copper Forum had an array of domestic and international experts to share their views on:

  • Global Copper market and demand- supply scenario
  • Electric vehicles: The missing piece in this jig-saw puzzle
  • Appliances growth opportunities with Energy Efficiency
  • Renewable Energy taking off to meet the goal of 175 GW

Copper demand has surged in recent years due to urbanization in emerging markets such as China and India. As emerging market’s populations move to cities, the need for new residential housing, transportation and infrastructure arises. Consolidation and improvement in operations of railways by bringing in better technology will also be a big positive for the copper industry. Wires and Cables are integral components of Electrical & Power, Infrastructure, Real Estate and IT industries which are key for the development of the ‘100 Smart Cities’ in India. Other upcoming and strategic areas where demand will grow include electric vehicle, renewable energy, aquaculture, energy efficient appliances and defence.
